An Intense Workout

SUP can give you an overall workout. In order to stand up on the board and propel yourself through the water, you will need to have balance and strength. The level of intensity would depend on where you are paddle boarding. For example, if you are on the ocean, the waves and the current will make your workout much more intense. If you are drifting on a calm lake, your workout will not be as intense.

Core Benefits

Paddle boarding provides a great core workout, as you will need to use almost every muscle in the body. A large part of paddle boarding is balance, therefore, you will need to use your leg muscles to keep your balance. You will also need to use the core back and abdominal muscles. In order to paddle effectively, you will need to use your arm, back and shoulder muscles.

Low Impact

If you are worried about the injuries that you can suffer from in the gym, you don’t need to worry about these injuries while paddle boarding, since it is a low impact exercise. You won’t need to worry about doing any damage to your tendons or ligaments. SUP is a good exercise for runners who have shin splints or knee and hip pain. This activity makes it possible to burn hundreds of calories without doing any damage to your joints.
